Pyxi Rose's Taghairm Chronicles' Blog Tour

The Ninth Taghairm: Redemption
Book One of the Taghairm Chronicles
There are far worse fates than death, but that is a truth Gadin Wilde knows all too well. He had to come to terms with his immortality from a sire that relished in the kill. He had eventually grown to accept the fact he was one of the damned; a vampire, an irredeemable beast driven by blood and blood alone. That was until he met the very complicated and alluring Talula Delphina and was shown another way of existing. In a blink of an eye, his whole world changed.

Cursed with a fate worse than death, Talula is destined to watch the world die. Punished with the cruelest form of immortality, she knows all about the devastation of death and the agonizing pain of rebirth. For almost thirteen hundred years, she has relived its vicious cycle time and time again. For a crime of retribution, her soul bares the mark of immortality, but suffers it in a mortal shell.

So when the dark and sensual, Gadin began hunting her, she welcomed the prospect of being his prey. After all, there are far worse ways to die. But nothing could have prepared her for the fire he lit within her.

And as their passions grow more intense, powerful forces fight to keep them apart. Will their love be enough to overcome their fated paths? Or will the secret crime Talula committed centuries ago, be so damning that Gadin won't be able to forgive her?

Excerpt #1 (Gadin’s POV)

She was humming to herself as she swung gently back and forth. She was wearing a tattered red dress and, surprisingly, a pair of furry boots. I had never seen her wear shoes before! She was so bizarre, this creature of flesh and blood, yet she was something so much more than that.
It was still cold as hell out and she wore only the dress and boots, no coat.
I stood there about a hundred yards away, debating whether or not to go to her again; to at least offer her my thin jacket I thought, trying to rationalize this unhealthy obsession I had for her. And suddenly her high pitched laughter pulled me from my internal turmoil.  I jerked my head up quickly to see her watching me as she twirled on the old swing.
“Aren’t you cold?” She mocked, laughing sweetly.

The beginning was just so colorful and interesting and enjoyable to read!!! I felt like I was the characters in the book!!! This new author knows how to pull in her audience and keep us wanting more!!! This is a RECOMMENDED MUST READ story for any Paranormal Fans from YA to Adult!!!! Thank you, Pyxi Rose, for a phenomenal debut story that will is sure to do well and capture the hearts of many new fans!!!!

Time for Q & A

Me: Most of my favorite authors are indie or self-pubbed, what made me you decide to go that route?
Pyxi: With me, it was a no brainer. I have been beta reading for one of the most talented writers I have ever met, Rue Volley. And with her, I discovered SJ Davis and the entire Crushing Hearts & Black Butterfly family. There wasn’t any doubt in my mind that was who I wanted to write for and we are every bit of a family. I adore them.
Me: What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
Pyxi: For me, it was the completion that writing brought me. I have always dabbled in the art of storytelling but it was more of an outlet of emotions I couldn’t control. I did a lot of poetry when I was younger and a few short stories but nothing with substance. When I started writing Redemption, it was only supposed to be a novella about death and the grieving process. But my characters had other plans and two years later, their story is finished and ready to be told.

Me: Which of your characters are you most like? Least like?
Pyxi: I like to think I am a little facet of all my characters but if I had to choose, Talula for the most like and Gadin for the least like.

Me: Do you have a particular writing habit?
Pyxi: I do. I write everything down longhand prior to typing it up. It is an old habit that I can’t seem to break and it does help with catching the little mistakes. It must be pencil, too. I hate to write with pen. Too final. ;)
Me:If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Pyxi: For me, I would have to say R.K. Ryals. She is one of my all-time favorite authors and EVERYTHING she has ever written is amazing.  She is one of the most talented storytellers out there! Love her to pieces.

Me: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Pyxi: Tons! Right now my three favorites are D. Love and her debut novel, Today Only. And Branded by Abi Ketner & Melissa Kalicicki.  These are authors to watch out for! J
Who designed the covers?
The talented Marya Heiman over at Strong Image Editing and she is just all kinds of amazing.

Me: What is the hardest part of your writing?
Pyxi: Letting it go to my editor. LOL I fight with myself for a few days before I can hand it over. I know I am not the only one how suffers from writer separation anxiety. But my editor, Marcie is a saint for putting up with me and she does it with a kind word and a big smile.

Me: Do you have any advice for other writers?
Pyxi: Write every day. And I mean, every day. Even if it is crap, do it. The one thing that I have learnt over this past two years is in order for a writer to truly perfect your craft, you must write and read all the time. J

Me:Describe yourself in three words.
Pyxi: Impatient. Snarky. Homebody.

Me: I know characters are like children but if you could chose, who’s your favorite from your books? Of all time?
Pyxi: Out of my book, my favorite is Talula Delphina. She is such a real character to me with flaws and desires. She was the most interesting one to get in her head. She doesn’t pretend to be good and she sees her punishment as a sacrifice for her family. Now out of all the books I have read, my favorite character has to be Lestat de Lioncourt from the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. He is much like Talula in his search for redemption. Also, he was one of my very first book boyfriends.

Me: Any song or songs that could basically sum up the overall mood of Redemption?
Pyxi: With Redemption, it’s kind of a funny story how I came up with this idea. I had the thought of how I wanted it to go but it was lacking something. The major twist in the plot came from listening to Bird Song by Florence+ the Machine. I have to say that is my main inspiration for the whole novel. Also, Shelter From the Storm by Bob Dylan.

Me: Do you plot out your books or just freely write them and let the characters tell you what to do next?
Pyxi: With Redemption, there was no plotting. I just poured out their story and went from there. With book two, I am plotting them out now. I would have liked to have known about Scrivener in the beginning because it is an amazing writing tool and it makes plotting so much easier. And even with plotting, my characters do what they want.  I could write a plot a certain way but it is up to the characters if it stays that way. It is their story, I only write down for them.

Me: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider the biggest influence in your writing?
Pyxi: Wuthering Heights is probably one of the most read books in my library. The darkness in Bronte’s work has bled through to my own words. Wuthering Heights is one of those books that sticks with you. It’s the brutally honest and raw side of human nature. I like that.

Me: What are your current projects? Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Pyxi: I am in the process of writing the first draft of Book Two of the Taghairm Chronicles and I am working on a standalone PNR about the reversal of roles of angels and demons. That one I started as an exercise to force myself to write every day, but now it is this amazing story of loss and healing when everything is falling apart around you. I can’t wait to share that one with the world!

She also enjoys reviewing books for other indie authors in her spare time. When she is not doing that, she is chasing after her wonderfully weird little boy, Wander Stone. Her debut novel, Redemption, will be the first book of nine in a darker paranormal series about Scottish Oracles.
