WOW, what a story this is. This author knows how to capture her audience heart and soul when adding words to paper and making her world so real and the lovable characters in each one of these stories. I have fallen in love with each character in this story. So full of romance, love, loss, and deep down in my soul I feel right there in the story with these characters. Their lives and feelings for each other is so breathtakingly beautiful!!! This is a RECOMMENDED MUST READ for anyone who believes, as I do, in finding your true soul mate, no matter color, race, or occupation you may have, even in the Paranormal world!!! I received a copy from the author for an honest review. I have to say this is my favorite as of yet for the Soul Mates Series. This is Abbey’s coming of age as some would say and she’s had this secret crush all these years on Daire. Attempting to hide her feelings from him and trying to deal with the glamour that allows him to attend school and keep guard over her, she can only wish he feels the same for her. Daire is determined to keep his mind off the love of his life. The one that he has loved for so many years but feels he isn’t good enough for his Princess to be, Abbey. But when confronted by Abbey as to her true feelings, he can’t resist her charm. Pog is determined to destroy Abbey and all she is to become. Will the allegiance Abbey has with so many be strong enough to protect her and the ones she loves? And who will end up holding Abbey’s heart? I do believe I have another author to stalk.

This was the best book in the soul mates series so far. The characters from the first two books have returned years later and we get to enjoy all of them from the eyes of Abby, who we met as a 2 year old in Soul Mates: Scent. Abby is the heir to the King of the Fae and has been raised and trained to take over when the time comes. She is spunky, smart, and struggling with the pull between the mortal world and the fae world. She is also struggling between adulthood and adolescence. Her personal guard, Daire, has been the fae she loves since she was a child and this story is mainly about their relationship as they struggle through the expectations of others and themselves to be together. Their relationship is so sweet and beautiful.
The pros: It was so much fun to get to know more of the characters from the previous books and to explore the magical world more than we have in the past books. The romance is sweet and clean, which is so refreshing and wonderful. It is great to grow with Abby as she learns to be the Queen she will be someday.
The cons: I don't always enjoy women who want to fight like men, and Abby is definitely that character. It is done very well, which is why I still enjoyed it. I also wished for a little more time with Daire and Abby when something bad wasn't happening and they weren't in a rush.
Summary: I loved the book and I look forward to (hopefully) more in this series ;) ;) I highly recommend it and I hope you enjoy it!

I received a copy for an honest review. This is my favorite in this series, thus far. It is as action packed as the previous two. Fun new characters, as well as the wonderful characters I've grown to love. The developing relationship has a great story line. I couldn't wait to get back to it every time I had to put it down. Hope there are more in this series to come!

Most
of my favorite authors are indie or self-pubbed, what made me you
decide to go that route?
Actually,
I attempted to go the traditional route first, but it’s really hard
to get your foot in the door when agents don’t reply to your
queries or give you any feedback. So I started looking at alternative
ways to get published and I entered my first novel, Courting Danger
in Amazon’s Novel contest. I made it to the top 100. They sent me
a link for Createspace and I sat on it for a while, contemplating my
options and finally I decided to go for it. I self-published through
Createspace and Kindle. Then, S.J. Davis, owner and operator of
Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing, read some of my work
and loved it. She decided to sign me and I will be forever grateful
to her for that!
What
was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your
books?
That
the worlds I’ve created are so much bigger than even I imagined
they were. That some of the characters I thought would be background
characters have moved front and center and want their story told too.
Which of your characters are you most like? Least like?
Oh
gosh! That is a tough one! I think there might me a little bit of me
in all of the characters. In Soul Mates: Scent, Max takes things as
they come, processes and adjusts fairly easily, I think I’m a bit
like that too. In Soul Mates: Bewitched, Jillian has a really sassy
and fun personality, and I think I’m a bit like that at times.
Though I’m probably the most like Joanna Deville from the Agents
for the Crown series, friends with everyone and always helping out.
As far as least like, that would be Abbey from my new book, SoulMates: Magic. Abbey is a take charge, kick butt and take names kind
of girl.
Do
you have a particular writing habit?
I
do! I create a music playlist for all of my books, some of them
overlap, which makes it easy to create since I have thousands of
songs on my computer. But every character seems to have their own
favorites and I have to adjust accordingly. So music is definitely a
habit. Also, I always go over what I wrote the day before and read
and edit. It helps me get into the scene and to not repeat things the
reader already knows.
If
you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Oh
my! Just one??? There are so many that I admire! Rue Volley comes to
mind, she amazes me with how quickly she can come up with plots and
characters that enthrall her readers. I also admire Beverly Cleary,
JK Rowling, Janet Evanovich, Laurell K. Hamilton, Catherine Stovall,
Jim Butcher, and Neil Gaiman. Any one of them would make an amazing
mentor!
Are
there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
So
many! Catherine Stovall is fairly new, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE her FaireEve series. Kendare Blake, has an excellent series, book one is
called Anna Dressed in Blood, Coey Cain’s Elite, another Fantastic
read. Oh! Ressa Empra’s Caught in the Dragon Cove, is terrific too.
Khelsey Jackson’s Kallos Series is one I am currently enjoying, And
Madison Daniels’ Ember series, soooo good! I could go on and on, I
love to read!
What
is the hardest part of your writing?
Actually
having the time to get it all down on virtual paper! I always seem to
run out of time to write! I need another 6 or so hours in a day! :D
Do
you have any advice for other writers?
I
do! The biggest one is WRITE every day. The second is READ other books
in the genre you want to write in. And if you are really new to
writing, study how books are written, study the sentence structure
and the word flow. Telling the story is important, but how you tell
it is just as important. :D
Describe
yourself in three words.
:D
This is not my favorite question. I never know what to say! Okay,
Three words. Friendly, helpful, fun. How’s that? :P
I
know characters are like children but if you could chose, who’s
your favorite from your books? Of all time?
From
my books…Alex Whitborne was my favorite for a long time, but he’s
actually been replace by James, the werewolf in the Soul Mates
Series. He’s snarky and really fun to write.
Of
all time, including other people’s characters, that would be
Stephanie Plum of Janet Evonovich’s number series. I would just
love to be her friend! :D
Any song or songs that could
basically sum up the overall mood of your writing?
I
am way too eclectic to sum up all of my writing with one song, but I
can tell you that I would sum up Soul Mates: Magic with Adam
Lambert’s For Your Entertainment.
Do
you plot out your books or just freely write them and let the
characters tell you what to do next?
I
am, for the most part, a write by the seat of your pants author. Most
of the time I am surprised by what happens. I do have a basic idea in
my head of what I want to happen, but I have no idea how to get there
and I generally only take notes on the characters before I start
writing.
If you had to choose, which
writer would you consider the biggest influence in your writing?
Actually,
I do my best to try and not be influenced by other writers. I of
course want to be as successful as they are and I study their books,
but I do not ever want to be thought of as writing a book that sounds
like it could have been written by them. I want my work to say I
wrote it, that when you read it, you know it’s mine.
What are your current
projects? Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Oh yes! I am currently working on a Regency short story for Halloween
called The Mask. But I have a few others in the works as well. A
Regency short for Christmas, book 4 of the Agents for the Crown
series, called Tangled, another Goddess of Love short story, and then
book 4 of the Soul Mates Series, Soul Mates: Hunger, which will be
James’ book. :D
