JENNY'S REVIEW

As everybody knows by now, my favorite genre is YA Paranormal, but I have a tendency from time-to-time to venture out of my comfort zone and give other books a try.

Well, this book picked up right where the cliffhanger to Wicked Luck left off. I was so desperately in need of reading this book, because I just HAD to know what was going to happen next. After reading Chapter One, that's where my attention was lost. I didn't like the way Ava kept going back and forth between her love for Dax and her love for Preston. I also didn't like the part where the guys kept trying to constantly win her love either. Of course, it is the typical male way. It just seemed so slow throughout that time, that is until we reach about Chapter Twenty-five, it really started picking up again and really captured my attention, because I read those last Ten Chapters in like an hour because I just HAD to know if they were going to finally all get their wish and leave the island....but HAHA, I am not going to tell you. Thought I would tell you huh? Well, I fooled you!! You must go purchase the book and read it for yourselves.

I am giving this book only a four book rating because I lost the interest during the middle of the book, because I am an action type girl and not much on the 'I love this guy' and yet 'I love this guy'. So pick up your copy of this book because your opinion will be different from mine.

Clean Teen Publishing provided me with a digital ARC copy of the book for review purposes only as part of a Blog Tour. No remuneration was exchanged.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Why did you go Indie?
A friend recommended Clean Teen Publishing so I queried them. I love the personal attention and help I get from them that I might not get from a large publisher.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
I was surprised at how much the characters become like real people to me. I feel the emotions they would in different situations and know exactly how they would react and which makes it easier to write about them.

Which of your characters are you most like - least like?

I am the most like Ava, and the least like Roxy.

Do you have a particular writing habit?
I write really late at night when my kids are asleep and the house is quiet.

Which writer would you consider a mentor?
Sherry Ficklin and Tyler Jolley have been great. They have let me pick their brains and offered great advice when I’ve needed it.

What is the hardest part of your writing?

The hardest part for me is keeping up with social media and marketing.

Do you have any advice for other writers?
When I first started writing I went to class after class and found myself rewriting and making changes to my manuscript according to what someone said a writer should or shouldn’t do. But then I’d go to another class where I was told to change the changes I already made. My advice to other writers is to realize that so much advice and rules in this business are based on opinion, and when it comes down to it…It’s okay to break some writing “rules”.

Describe yourself in three words.
Creative, kind….and busy!

What is your favorite character from your books? Of all time?
Dax is my favorite character from my Wicked Luck series. If I could wave a magic wand and turn him into a real man, I would. My favorite character of all time would probably be Catniss Everdeen. I loved her. She was smart, strong, brave, selfless, determined, stubborn, and sexy, all rolled into one character.

After secretly reading her journal, he believes she is a perfect match to the girl of his dreams. He’s determined not only to keep her alive, but also to win over her heart by convincing her to forget about her past and the secrets that continue to haunt her.

Ava Starr has always been the epitome of bad luck, but she never imagined she would wake up and find herself on a cannibal-infested island with no memory of how she got there. The last thing she remembers is boarding a plane with her pilot boyfriend, Preston. But now he and his crew are missing, and she must find him before a tribe of hungry cannibals finds him first. But Ava’s troubles have followed her to Lamarai, where once again she’s surrounded by danger and people who want her dead. She finds herself caught in a web of deceit and soon discovers the answers to her mysterious past can be found in the most unlikely of places, and that no one is actually who they seem to be.

JENNY'S REVIEW

Anyone who follows my reviews knows that YA Paranormal is my genre and from time to time, I step out of my comfort zone to give other books a try, and I must say that I am glad that I did!!

I was extremely intrigued when I read the synopsis for this book and I thought I would give it a shot. When I first started reading, I had lots of unanswered questions and I felt as if it started off slow, but once I got over that hump, the book started to pick up and my questions were of course answered. The story has a great flow to it and I am just as curious about Ava and her past as Dax is and I can't help but want to dig my nose into her journal too. Plus, find out she is his long time lost friend from the younger years, just stopped me dead in my reading. Who knew?

It's a very fast paced and very well written story and I love how the author adds some comedy and some strange and peculiar twists and turns throughout the plot. I mean....Seriously, who would wanna be stuck on an island with a bunch of cannibals? Definitely not me......There is so much excitement and fun throughout this book, I had trouble actually putting it down and I could here the story calling my name to come back and read more. I love how the author also left us hanging to keep us wanting to read more. I give applause to this author for her work, even with the slow beginning. I felt as if I was not just a reader but actually part of the story and to me is what draws people in to want to read her work.

I am so looking forward to reading Wicked Fate and go on another, what I assume to be, adventure that is well worth it.
