Tonya the librarian has an unusual passion for books, even for a librarian. When her books are harmed she takes it personally. When people turn up dead over damaged books, there are questions to answer. When the killer is a weresquirrel, the questions become more confusing.
There is a certain pretentiousness in classical literature. Elegant writing filled with meaning both astounding and sublime. This is not that. Not horrific enough to be horror, nor humorous enough to be comedy, welcome to Chip’s Dollar Dreadfuls. There may not be any fundamental truths, but there will be blood...so much blood.
I really don't have the words to express this story, other than it was remarkable. I have never read anything like this before. It's a fun read full of mystery....and weresquirrels? Yes, you read that right, wereasquirrels. I love how the author drew me in at the beginning like it was just a normal every day story, that is until you keep reading and then WHAM the author hits you with a shocker, that these particular women can actually turn into squirrels. This is an extremely fast page read, I just couldn't put this book down, because I just had to know what was going to happen next. I absolutely loved the main characters. They were fun and refreshing to read about, though I didn't like what happened to some of them, but that's what happens in wars, there is casualties. I didn't mind all the blood and gore and this book didn't scare me at all, though, I am interested in reading more from this author. This is a magnificent read that I will find myself sneaking back to and reading over and over again. I highly recommend this to adults who love blood and gore and squirrels. This story is NOT for the faint of heart. I give this story my five book review and an applause for such a unique and fascinating story!
