E.M. Rinaldi lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her boyfriend, Milz, and their slightly psychotic pup, Boone. By day she is a Registered Radiologic Technologist taking pictures of mangled bones and by night she writes about all the bizarre situations her characters get themselves into while she was away. She is a Second Degree Blackbelt and can’t write a story without at least one fight scene in it.

When she’s not writing, or trapped at work, E.M. likes to read (obsessively), clear her DVR, and have all night Buffy marathons with her friends, complete with cookies and cinnamon rolls.

Her love for writing stems from an early age where she would create stories on an old computer program and force anyone within grabbing distance to read them. Not much has changed; be warned: stay out of grabbing distance.

Evading the Dark is her debut novel and the first of The Cross Chronicles.

REVIEW: Who We Were by Christy Sloat

Who We Were
Christy Sloat

“Who we were had washed away with the summer. Who we are was yet to be seen.”

Summer school at Alcott High was only supposed to gain Sadie Peters extra credit, nothing more. Her goal wasn't to make friends, or gain the attention of the most popular football player, yet she managed both. Her life was cruising along on course ... until that summer.

Could a simple stint in a different school change her identity completely and introduce her to love for the first time? How would that affect her relationship with Lily, her best friend?

Hopefully their friendship was strong enough to make it through the tumultuous summer. Sadie learns that great things come with change, but sometimes memories of the past are hardest to part with.

This book was a sweat, romantic, horrifying, sad, and down right incredible story, but that is how real life is, especially for teenage girls. This story had all the feelers in it and is a tissue box worthy read. The characters were phenomenal and easy to connected with. The story-line fits right in with the life and times of a teenage girl with all her ups and downs and heartaches with a few added extras to it, but it seemed to make the character stronger in the end. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it!

REVIEW: If I Didn't Know You by Kimberly Larson

If I Didn't Know You
Kimberly Larson

Throughout Lydia’s life she has always had her best friend, Greyson, at her side. Their bond is unbreakable and undefinable.

At the age of twenty-four, she has everything that she’s ever wanted ... a family. Unfortunately, her husband dies in a tragic accident and she’s left to raise her one-year-old son by herself.

She pulls herself together with the help of her close friends, especially Greyson, who has always been there for her. As life's tragedies and obstacles collide with them, Greyson and Lydia find themselves together. Their bond, stronger than ever, that grows into so much more than friendship.

This book had a lot of heartache and sadness throughout it and I felt as if I could really connect with the characters in the story. The story-line and the characters were phenomenal. The story drew me in from the beginning and kept me turning each page until the very end. I felt bad for the characters and I am glad that it had a happy ending and things turned out great for the characters. I am always a sucker for happy endings. I must admit though, that I thought the story kind of dragged on a little. I was so wanting to get to the happily ever after in some places, but the story was one that I won't forget anytime soon. I highly recommend this story to all romance lovers to enjoy.

I got my paperback copy from the Anchor Group Publishing Company back in August of 2017 at Once Upon A Book Author Signing in Michigan. No remuneration was exchanged.

REVIEW: Breaking Fences by Susan Burdorf

Breaking Fences
Susan Burdorf

More than fences are mended at the Bar B Ranch.

With bravado as his courage and sarcasm his shield, eighteen year old Cutter Boone is a boy who lives his life on danger's edge. After being sent to his uncle's ranch to avoid incarceration, Cutter carries a chip on his shoulder the size of the state of Texas.

Seventeen year old barrel racer Melodie Graham is another tortured soul in need of repair. Hiding her secrets as carefully as the pale bruises she hides under her thin cotton shirt, she doesn't intend to let the reckless cowboy into her life, or her heart.

But when tragedy strikes, Cutter is the one she turns to. Can he save her in time? Or will their bad choices lead to more heartbreak for them both?

This is my first time reading this author's work, but she is an author with the Anchor Group Publishing Company and I thought I would give her a shot.....and she has gained a brand new fan. This book was amazing. The author has a way with words that will either rip your heart out and bring out the box of tissues or she can make you smile all in one paragraph. This book was so touching and actually hit home with me. I was completely reeled in right from the beginning. The character were so down to earth and real and they literally felt as if they jumped off the page saying, "Here I am'. I had a real connection with Melody and felt so bad for her situation. Cutter was also a messed up teenager, but I loved how Melody made him see the good in him. The ending was just fantastic. I really wish the story hadn't ended, but like all good stories, they have to end, and this one had a happily ever after that I could live with. I highly recommend this story. It's a great story for teens, YA, and adults to enjoy.

I got my paperback copy of this book from the Once Upon A Book Author Signing that happened this past August from the Anchor Group Publishing Company.
