REVIEW: Yours Forever by Cathy Jackson

Yours Forever
Yours To....Book 3
Cathy Jackson

Maximillian Roselle needs Ruthie Eden like he needs air to breathe. Her compassion, passion, and faith have awakened his desire to love and be loved; and the attention she has received from his colleague, Ken Davis, has galvanized his determination to make her his own.

Ken knows a good thing when he sees it, so when his friend Max struggled with his relationship with Ruthie, he stepped in to give Max a push. Now he lends his friendship to bolster and encourage Max's faith in God and Ruthie.

Ruthie Eden enjoyed being single. She busied herself with her interests and her writing and hadn't seriously thought about sharing her life with anyone—until she met the Roselle family. With her heart open to be loved, the attention of other men has her head spinning.

Enter Jace Nelson, brought in to collaborate on Max and Ken's new video project. Charming and roguish, he has less-than-honorable intentions toward Ruthie. He takes this enterprise as an opportunity to turn Ruthie's head and change her heart, and doesn't care what claim anyone else might have.

This author has a way with words that will have you crying one minute and laughing the next. I love this author's style of writing. Everything about this story felt real and I felt as is I could connect with the characters. I don't find many stories that I can actually feel as if I belong in the story with the characters and have the feeling of being....HOME. I also loved how each chapter starts out with a Bible verse. Each Bible verse had me pondering about what I would be reading next and what each character would be going through. I feel as if I am learning a lesson as I read this book. I also love how this book picks right up where the last book left off. I am not much on cliffhangers and I hope the author has more for us.

The characters were phenomenal! I hated how the devil tried to interfere in the characters lives and I was constantly on the verge of tears as different things tried to hurt Ruthie and Max. I am still in love with Carry and Mike. They are such fun and so grown up for their ages with their wisdom that they would share throughout the story.

The story-line was AH-MAZING!! The words to this story were so smooth, they just seemed to flow off the pages as I read them and kept me wanting to read more. Just pure Christian magic flowed from this book and I REALLY enjoyed it a lot. I believe this is my favorite story of this series yet and I highly recommend the whole series if you haven't read it yet.

GUEST POST BY N.W. HARRIS:

What would I tell a new author?
What to tell a new author, hmmm… There is so much to tell, though every writer’s journey is different. First off, I’d tell them to write for themselves. If one writes just to get published and make money, I think they’ll go mad and/or quit before they ever get close. Why? It takes years to polish one’s craft enough to be published by a creditable publisher. I think writing has to be looked at as a hobby that could become a career. A writer has to want to write because there is something that is inside them that needs to get out. Write for a creative outlet. Write like it doesn’t matter if anyone besides you ever reads it. Write almost everyday, but it is important to take days off too. Much of the education for the profession comes from practical experience. Sure, a writer draws from their experiences and traditional education. My educational background is mostly based in science, biology and anthropology, and it provides a volume of information to draw upon. But, I had to learn the craft of writing by trial and error. Every writer has to find his or her voice. That can take years, and it can only be discovered by hard work. I’d tell them to persist. It’s my favorite word. You have to write a novel. Destroy it. Rewrite it. Invest countless hours and sometimes even years. Then you have to be willing to let all that work go because it was just the classroom where you polished your craft. You have to swallow rejection after rejection and keep fighting. When you get criticism, you have to listen to it. I’m not saying a budding writer should try to oblige every critic, but growth is critical and growth comes from taking in criticism. Deal with any pain it might cause quickly, and then get into the game again by applying what you’ve learned.

Yours to Claim
Yours to.. Book 2
Cathy Jackson

Ruthie Eden is in love with the Roselle children. Caring for them has opened her heart to their precocious and endearing love, and that’s the good news. The bad news is she is falling in love with their father, popular YouTuber Maximillian Roselle. She can see a future with him, but how does he feel about her?

Maximillian Roselle has too many things on his mind: his wonderful children, his dream career and the beautiful, compassionate and fiercely loving woman he has hired to care for them. It is a recipe for love or disaster. Max has been finding it difficult to maintain his emotional distance as an employer and, truth be told, he doesn't want to.

Facing fears of the future and ghosts of their pasts with newfound love and faith, Max and Ruthie embark on a relationship guided by their hearts and God.

As most of you know that follow my reviews know that my favorite genre is YA Paranormal, but that sometimes I will come out of my comfort zone and give other genres a try and I am so glad that I have done so with this series and this author.

This book was amazing!! Jackson didn't hold anything back and she brought forth all the stops in this book. It had all the feelers as the first but I enjoyed this story a lot more. I found myself laughing one moment, while tearing up in the next. This is a phenomenal Christian story that was such a fun and refreshing read and I had a hard time putting it down. The characters were so awesome and I felt as if I could connect with them. I loved the POV's of Max and Ruthie. It was so much fun getting to know what each character was thinking at each moment in the story and how they reacted to each event that was happening at that time. The story-line was just incredible and each moment, whether good or bad, captured my heart and kept a small piece of it within its pages. I highly recommend this fun and enthusiastic read for all to enjoy.

How to Give Up:
How (Exactly) to Let Go & Let God
Shannon Medisky

Looking for the easy yoke Jesus promised?
Claim it by giving up.
Keep reading to learn (exactly) how.

We crave control. That’s been part of our nature ever since Eve first reached out for the forbidden fruit. But if we truly want to rest in God’s peace, then we must purpose to let go and let God.

If you’re looking for real help on how (exactly) to find true, lasting results, keep reading. Inside this book, you’ll discover specific, step-by-step ways you can begin to let go of the control you never had in the first place. In short, you’ll learn how to let God do His job so you can do yours—rest in Him.

This author did not do any preaching about the Bible in this book. The author was awesome when it came to talking about her life and how God took care of everything that was going on, whether it was good or bad. She described in detail how God could turn things around in my life. Some of the things the author talked about, I already practice in my life, though sometimes its hard to do. The author never sounded like she was forcing me to do anything nor telling me how things are suppose to be. She just gave advise and I have decided on my own to add what I learned that was new to my life. I also love how the author broke down things into my level so that I understood better. Sometimes its hard to understand fully what the Bible is trying to tell us and I like it when someone breaks it down for me. This author makes for a great role model for others who have lost their way or who just don't know what to do. I highly recommend this story to all to read and learn from.

Juniper Grove Book Solutions provided me with a digital ARC copy of the book for review purposes only as part of the #JGBSLibrary. No remuneration was exchanged.

REVIEW: Juliette and the Monday Mandates by Becky Doughty

Juliette and the Monday Mandates
The Gustafson Girls #1
Becky Doughty

MEET THE GUSTAFSON GIRLS

When Paul and Simone Gustafson are killed by a drunk driver, the lives of their four daughters change irrevocably. Although raised by loving grandparents, it’s the G-FOURce—the Gustafson Four Sisters Club—that binds them together when their differences would tear them apart. All grown up now, Juliette has become the quintessential doormat, Renata, two years younger, the self-appointed matriarchal figure. Phoebe is borderline narcissistic, according to Renata at least, and Gia is on the verge of a major identity crisis.

But they’re still a force with which to be reckoned as they continue the time-honored tradition of meeting together to love and support one another, and if necessary, to intervene in each others lives.

What none of the sisters has been willing to address is the hovering presence of Angela Clinton, the senior class darling who drove her cherry black 1970 el Camino into the side of their parents’ car on the night of Juliette’s high school graduation. But Angela’s prison sentence is winding down; soon she’ll be eligible for parole, so face her, they must. Will the G-FOURce be strong enough to hold them together as they step into the eye of the storm that’s been brewing for the last fifteen years? Will they finally be able to let go of the past and embrace the future, no matter what it holds?

JULIETTE AND THE MONDAY MANDATES

Juliette Gustafson is heart-broken after waiting nearly ten years for a proposal from her boyfriend that never came. Determining she isn’t “getting over Mike” quickly enough, her three younger sisters come up with The Monday ManDates; an intervention plan requiring Juliette to endure what turns out to be a series of remarkably disastrous blind dates. Between TheraPaul, Frisky Frank, TAZ the rock star, and the stoic Tim Larsen, the Monday ManDates are doomed from the start. Then there’s Victor Jarrett, the police officer with an affinity for pulling Juliette over when she’s at her very worst. But no one is more surprised than Juliette when she meets the one man who can right the wrongs in her past and change her future, if she will only let herself fall in love with him.

This was a fabulous read. I enjoyed every page that I devoured. This author has a real knack at writing stories that reaches out and touches your heart and soul. The characters were phenomenal and felt so real. It felt as if I was a part of their daily lives, helping them through their tough decisions. The love of the sisters was just breathtakingly beautiful and the story between Juliette and Victor was just.......magical. I even loved Juliette's nosy neighbor too. I loved how the story turned out at the end. Forgiveness is the hardest thing to do and I struggle everyday with it just as Juliette and her sisters did. Juliette's courage to forgive and overcome her insecurities has given me a new sense of hope and I know by reading this story that it can be done. I give this author a standing ovation for the heart wrenching scenes in this story and I highly recommend it for all to read, whether they be Christians or non-Christians. Plus, this book is free on amazon too.

REVIEW: Elderberry Croft by Becky Doughty

Elderberry Croft
The Complete Collection
Becky Doughty

We are all broken in some way, shape, or form, and it doesn't matter what shape, size, and religion, and color we are, all we need to heal is someone who cares, listens with a good ear, give us some advise, and remind us that we are never alone, and that God is with us every step of the way. God will help guides us through the good times and the bad as long as we remember to lean on Him for help and support.

NOW, ON TO MY REVIEW......
This book has really touched my heart and soul. It's a beautiful set of stories that brought on many feelers and has captured a piece of my heart within its pages.

Willow Goodhope is a down to Earth and remarkable character. She not only opened up the hearts of the other characters in the stories, but opened me up too. This author did a phenomenal job bringing forth these stories and she has a real knack for keeping her audience guessing and hypnotized in each page I turned. I absolutely love this bunch of stories and I can't say which one I love more because I loved them each the same. I highly recommend this heartfelt series to all to enjoy and remember for years to come, not matter what genre is your favorite. This series will change your mind about reading the Adult Christian Genre.

I give this author my five book review and more for her storytelling. Bravo, Ms. Doughty, bravo. This author has brought hope back into my life, just as I was starting to forget that there was hope in the world. I will be forever grateful for these stories. I am hooked to this author's style of writing and I can't wait to venture into more of her Christian writing.

Sometimes we have to be reminded that there is hope, love, and Jesus Christ in our lives, even if its a book that reminds us of this. -Jenny Bynum

REVIEW: The Way of Grace by Cathy Bryant

The Way of Grace
Miller's Creek #3
Cathy Bryant

I am a fan of YA Paranormal, by sometimes you can catch me stepping outside of my comfort zone and read other genres. I must admit that I am really glad that I gave this book a try!

This story is heartrendingly amazing. I laughed and cried throughout the whole story. The trials and tribulations that Graciela went through in life was an unforgettable, and at times, hard not to feel as she did. I connected with this character so much and I felt as if I was living Grace's life. The ending to this story was phenomenal and I was so happy for Grace and Matt, despite everything Grace went through and how she lived in her past with all of her insecurities. I loved how God played a role in their lives too and gave both characters the strength and courage they need to get through life, even the difficult times. I highly recommend this story to all adults, no matter what your genre preference is. You will fall for these characters just as I did. My heart is full of joy and happiness after reading this story.
