Welcome back everybody!! I have a quick announcement to make!! It's that time of year again to vote for #OUAB2019!! This year, our debut Author, Douglas S. Pierce, has been nominated for an award and this will be his second year there but first year as a published author and it would be so very AWESOME if he was able to win the Hero Award for his character, Rondel AKA Mouse!!! Below is some information about the book and the character, along with the link to vote!!! This is the semi finals and voting is open until March 1. Once the voting is over, the votes will go in front of a panel of judges where they will narrow it down to 5 nominees and then on the night of July 19th at the Ball, the winner for each category will be announced and they will receive a beautiful award!!! *YOU MUST LOGIN TO GMAIL OR GOOGLE TO VOTE*

The Maiden's Song
Book One of The Seeds of Hope
Douglas S. Pierce

The stranger arched a knowing eyebrow and closed Mouse’s fingers around the flute. “Someday, perhaps, you can return this kindness by giving the gift of music to someone else in their time of need.”Mouse—a fugitive and former stowaway—had no way of knowing that his benefactor was the very man that the Captain of the Hunter’s Ghost was hunting…or how playing music again would lead to a series of impossible choices…“The Enemy comes for you, child. A foe like no other. The night will be long and dark. The dangers will seem too great. But you must find your song, child, even when that seems impossible...”Those dark words by the kumpania’s ancient Seer are Seldy’s first warning that the life she adores—in the only home she’s ever known—is coming to a quick and violent end...The Maiden’s Song is a tale of love and sacrifice of how Mouse and Seldy must endure intertwined journeys of self-discovery while being hunted by an implacable foe who will stop at nothing to claim the power of her secret heritage for himself.

MEET RONDEL AKA MOUSE

Meet Rondel (portrayed by @antisocialdisposition ). Known by the nickname of Mouse at the beginning of The Maiden’s Song, Rondel is the lead male protagonist and the titular character in my WIP — The Guardian’s Quest.
📚📖📚

Although he is human, Rondel has the secret ability to hear the hidden songs (or ta’irs) of the people and animals he comes into contact with. If he takes the time to listen to them, these songs reveal the hidden motives, past traumas, and the true character of those he interacts with, helping him survive being orphaned at age ten, being drafted into the gang life in the Slant, and stowing away on the Hunter’s Ghost — a bounty hunting ship looking for dangerous fugitives.
📚📖📚

His whole life changes, however, when a kindly stranger gives him an old, used flute, igniting a dream to play music once again...and when he is asked to tend to the most dangerous prisoner of all — a deadly Fae witch who was responsible for deaths of a number of a good men — and he discovers she has no song at all...
📖📚📖

Soon he faces a dire choice — help the strange prisoner and betray the captain of his ship, or be a party to sending her to a fate worse than death.
📚📖📚

Does he make the right choice?
Find out in The Maiden’s Song, Book One of The Seeds of Hope, available through Amazon (link in my profile) or directly from me — DM for details.

REVIEW: Hallowed Eve by Suza Kates

Something terrible happened in Pine Creek. Eve Taylor must return home for her grandmother's funeral but has every intention of making it a short visit. Too many memories live in the small town where she grew up, memories of a Halloween best forgotten. Trey Rainwater has been waiting for Eve. He knows she'll be staying for longer than she'd planned and has every intention of making sure she does. He has a promise to keep. Eve and Trey find themselves thrown into a deadly combination of riddles, murder, and a love that won't be denied. As the moon hovers in the October sky and Halloween grows closer, Eve must fight her own personal demons while learning to trust the man who protects her. The past has come back to life, and a killer is stalking the small town of Pine Creek. He's waiting for his Hallowed Eve.

What an amazing suspense thriller!! I absolutely loved this story and I can honestly say that this particular author has a new follower. This author has a real knack for storytelling and keeping you guessing and in suspense.

The characters were awesome. I made a real connection with Eve and her struggles with her past and present situations. I felt everything this character felt. I have completely fell in love with this character.

The story-line is an unforgettable one. So much suspense, thriller, and romance made this book a phenomenal read. Every single page had something lurking within to keep me turning them from beginning to end. The author did such an excellent job at describing details that I felt as if I was part of the book too. I was also shocked by this story, because I never saw it coming. It's a perfect story that I highly recommend, though I must add that with what happens in the story that reader discretion is advised.

REVIEW: Shadows by Jules Nelson

Take a trip back in history.. to a small farm in Michigan... and meet Emma Fern Wells. Emma lives a peaceful life. Her days are filled with caring for her Da and two brothers. She has no time to socialize. At 18, most of her friends are already married. Emma has accepted that she has little chance of being courted with her heavy workload. And, even though, she feels content with caring for her loving family, Emma is lonely. But the day a young man rescues Emma from a scoundrel in town, everything changes. Soon her life is filled with laughter, joy -- and worry. When Emma's family notices these changes in her, it brings forth troubles of their own.As Emma struggles to follow God's will, she comes to realize that God does not simply guide us by events along our path......sometimes you are guided by the shadows...

As most people who follow my blog knows that I am YA Paranormal kind of girl, but from time-to-time, I set out of my comfort zone and read other genres. This is one story that I am so glad to have given it a chance. It's a beautiful story with a shocking surprise to it.

At first, when I started this book, I had trouble understanding why the author chose this particular title for her book. It just didn't seem to fit at the beginning, but then as I kept reading and got to part II everything came together and I started to understand.

The characters in this story were amazing. I loved reading about Emma and learning what a women went through in that particular era. I also felt as if I could connect this character. I found myself feeling what she was feeling and a few times, I actually teared up and cried with her. I was completely enchanted by this story.

The story-line was refreshing. I felt as if I was taken on a remarkable journey and setting that this book took place in. It was such a heartfelt and incredible story and I highly recommend it.
