REVIEW: 13 WAYS TO MIDNIGHT BOOK 2 by Rue Volley

COMING 10.31.17

Once upon a time, there was a girl who didn't believe in monsters.
Until now.

Echo Midnight Navarri has reached her seventeenth birthday—alone.

It's been well over a year since her twin, Midnight, slipped from her hand into a ravine shrouded in blue mist deep in the Brazilian jungle.

The locals refer it to as the veil.
Echo believes it is a nightmare.
One that she can't seem to escape.

Her parents, world-famous archaeologists, Peter and Alice Navarri, stayed behind after sending Echo to live with her aunt in a rainy little town at the edge of the world known as Port Royal.

The search goes on, but the mystery remains.

Echo continues to experience visions as the details of the events leading up to that fateful night start to reveal themselves to her.
Piece by piece, bit by bit.

Exposing the truth and forcing in the light where once there was only darkness.

Despite everything, she has managed to make friends, even a new boy, by the name of Asher Tiberious Westbrook the third, a self-proclaimed warlock who doesn't mind that Echo tends to shy away from anyone who wants to be close to her.

But she fears intimacy after losing her sister.
Especially with him.
Not Asher Westbrook.
Thorn Vega.

A boy whose terrifying secrets may outweigh her own.

I want to start out this review by saying that I have followed this author for many years now and have noticed a significant improvement in her writing and the way she captures her audience and keeps us craving more. And with that being said......

MY THOUGHTS

WOW...

I am completely and utterly speechless after reading this book!! I literally have no words for what I have read...Even though I may have laughed, got my heart broken, snot cried, and was left with one heck of a cliffhanger, I must says this author is a complete genus! This author kept me on the edge of my seat and turning each page from beginning to end.

The characters are phenomenal. I still am in love with them and am torn between Thorn and Ash on who I love more. My heart completely aches for Echo in this story. I feel a real connection with this character. Her emotions seemed to reel me in as the words flowed off of the pages and I just wished that I could pull her out of the book and hug her.

The story-line is POWERFUL. The author made me feel as if I was a part of the story, and not like watching a movie, but as if I was actually living the story inside the book. The feelers are so very raw and felt so very real. So much sadness, heartache, and trauma happened in this story, and yet I couldn't help but want to keep reading to find out more. This is the very first story that I have read that has made me cry so hard for the characters that live inside a book and I must say it is by far my favorite read for 2017.

And if you love a fantastic love story that will make you laugh, cry, and rip your heart out, then this story is for you. I highly recommend it.

REVIEW: Ascension: The Chosen by E.H. James

Jesse returns from India, ten years later, in his arms a Katemara. But he is not returning to the world he left. Demons are possessing humans on a regular basis. Committing crimes and leaving the humans to suffer the consequences, the demons are amassing huge sums of money.

Left to wonder what the demons could be plotting, Jesse knows they are after more than just mischief, pain, and pleasure. But when Cole confesses to one of Starke’s murders, believing himself responsible for not having stopped Starke, Jesse and the gang have more than just demons to worry about. And when overwhelmed by demons bent on killing them, they must run.

Will Jesse take his rightful place as the chosen one, or will the demon occupation prevent the ascension?

This was another amazing story with complex details to it, but not too much that it made the story boring.

The characters were the same and just as awesome as before. I still felt a connection with the characters.

The story-line, though very complex, was an incredible read. I love how the author takes us into a different place that no other author has been before. A place into many past parts of the previous books, which made this a unique and fascinating story. I am curious about where this author will take us next and I highly recommend it. I do recommend that mature 18 and older read this story due to the graphic scenes in the story.

This was a refreshing and enjoyable read!! It was so intense at times, but was also inspiring and very addictive. Sloat took us on a memorable adventure that literally took me out of the real world for a few hours just to end up the realm of this story. I felt as if I was floating along as the story progressed.

The characters were incredible and there was a lot of feelers in this story. The story-line touched my heart and kept me turning each amazing page to find out more. The mystery in the story just captured me and kept me wondering and guessing at each corner.

COVER REVAMP: The After Light Saga by Cameo Renae

The After Light Saga
Author: Cameo Renae
Genre: YA Dystopian, Post-Apocalyptic
Publisher: CHBB
Cover Designer: Stephanie Hobbs of Steph's Cover Design
Hosted by: Lady Amber's PR

The beginning of the end. The Apocalypse.

A nuclear fallout wiped out every living thing on the planet, except for a few thousand of us who took shelter in underground bunkers across the globe. Now, after thirteen long years, we were finally able to return to the topside to begin to rebuild.

We thought we were alone. We were never more wrong.

Before the fallout, scientists had worked on creating an anti-radiation vaccine (ARV). The first two attempts failed, but despite the incomplete tests and results, the government approved and distributed the third serum to the masses in an effort to aid those who had no shelter.

It worked, keeping those who remained on the topside alive, but it also altered and mutated them. This new and infectious threat had completely outnumbered us. Now, we not only had to rebuild our planet. We would have to fight for it.

My name is Abigail Park. I’m seventeen, and this is my story.

The Arvy threat worsens each day. They continue to destroy the hives vital fuel resources, leaving us with one option—evacuate to the largest government bunker, located in South Dakota.

The injured hive members are moved as first priority, but a disastrous even occurs on the way to our drop-off zone. We find ourselves in a ghost town, surrounded by spiteful, revenge-filled Arvies. Chaos ensues and our death toll rises. Just when we think the end has come, unsuspected help arrives. We are rescued and brought to an underground bunker.

They call it Sanctum.

With no way of reaching outside help, we must depend on each other to reach our pick-up zone, thirty miles away. If we don’t make it in time, we will be left for dead.

Time is ticking.

My name is Abigail Park. I am a survivor.

Arriving at the new government bunker, things quickly go from bad to worse. I am separated from Finn and my family because of my ability to connect with Arvies through telepathy. Housed with three other Readers—and kept away from the general population—we are given serum injections in effort to enhance our thought transference. The end goal? Thought manipulation.

We are considered humanity’s only hope in the war against the Arvy race.

With the ever growing threat of an invasion, the government demands results from the Reader program by doling out ultimatums, and using our loved ones against us.

But they will not break me.

My name is Abigail Park. I am intransigent.

Wanted. It’s something I’ve had to get used to since being placed on the government’s Most Wanted list. On the run, with my family and Finn by my side, we now have to evade not only the Arvies, but teams of soldiers sent to find and capture me.

Little do they know, I’m battling my own demons. After the receiving large doses of mind-enhancing serum, a monster has been unleashed inside my mind. It promises death and destruction; its power, greater than anything I could imagine. Now, I’m too dangerous, and the lives of my loved ones depend on my separation from the group. I must leave and face the hostile world alone.

My name is Abigail Park. I will do whatever it takes to save the ones I love.

War is coming between humans and Arvies, leaving me trapped between two enemies. This time, I don’t think I’ll survive. The government will stop at nothing to get me back in their clutches. They want what’s inside me—a power I call Venge—and will use my greatest weakness to bring me to my knees. The Arvies know of my gift, and use my telepathy and their numbers, in an effort to take me out. My name is Abigail Park, and I promise retribution against those who’ve wronged me, even if it’s the last thing I do.
