RELEASE DAY BLITZ W/REVIEW: 13 Ways to Midnight by Rue Volley

13 Ways to Midnight
The Midnight Saga #2
Rue Volley

Once upon a time, there was a girl who didn't believe in monsters.
Until now.

Echo Midnight Navarri has reached her seventeenth birthday—alone.
It's been well over a year since her twin, Midnight, slipped from her hand into a ravine shrouded in blue mist deep in the Brazilian jungle.
The locals refer it to as the veil.
Echo believes it is a nightmare.
One that she can't seem to escape.

Her parents, world-famous archaeologists, Peter and Alice Navarri, stayed behind after sending Echo to live with her aunt in a rainy little town at the edge of the world known as Port Royal.
The search goes on, but the mystery remains.

Echo continues to experience visions as the details of the events leading up to that fateful night start to reveal themselves to her.
Piece by piece, bit by bit.
Exposing the truth and forcing in the light where once there was only darkness.

Despite everything, she has managed to make friends, even a new boy, by the name of Asher Tiberious Westbrook the third, a self-proclaimed warlock who doesn't mind that Echo tends to shy away from anyone who wants to be close to her.
But she fears intimacy after losing her sister.
Especially with him.
Not Asher Westbrook.
Thorn Vega.
A boy whose terrifying secrets may outweigh her own.

I want to start out this review by saying that I have followed this author for many years now and have noticed a significant improvement in her writing and the way she captures her audience and keeps us craving more. And with that being said......

MY THOUGHTS

WOW...

I am completely and utterly speechless after reading this book!! I literally have no words for what I have read...Even though I may have laughed, got my heart broken, snot cried, and was left with one heck of a cliffhanger, I must says this author is a complete genus! This author kept me on the edge of my seat and turning each page from beginning to end.

The characters are phenomenal. I still am in love with them and am torn between Thorn and Ash on who I love more. My heart completely aches for Echo in this story. I feel a real connection with this character. Her emotions seemed to reel me in as the words flowed off of the pages and I just wished that I could pull her out of the book and hug her.

The story-line is POWERFUL. The author made me feel as if I was a part of the story, and not like watching a movie, but as if I was actually living the story inside the book. The feelers are so very raw and felt so very real. So much sadness, heartache, and trauma happened in this story, and yet I couldn't help but want to keep reading to find out more. This is the very first story that I have read that has made me cry so hard for the characters that live inside a book and I must say it is by far my favorite read for 2017.

And if you love a fantastic love story that will make you laugh, cry, and rip your heart out, then this story is for you. I highly recommend it.

START WITH BOOK 1

13 Ways to Midnight
The Midnight Saga #1

You'll never miss the sunlight until it's gone.

Sixteen-year-old Echo Navarri, daughter of world-famous archaeologists, Alice and Peter Navarri, had spent her life traveling from one expedition to the next as her parents unearthed lost civilizations.

On their thirteenth dig, Midnight, Echo's twin sister, disappears without a trace. This prompts a year-long search that leaves the family nearly broken. In an attempt to find some closure they reluctantly host a mock funeral for Midnight without ever recovering her remains.

Nearing the one year anniversary of Midnight's assumed death, Echo is sent to live with her eccentric Aunt Luna who is the caretaker of the centuries old Navarri Estate in Port Royal, Maine.

Echo attempts to settle into her new life in Port Royal, but soon finds that she's destined for adventure as the mystery of her family's history, the sunless town, and its oddly intriguing people teeter on the supernatural.

So mystical, magical, mysterious and just plain phenomenal!!! I actually finished this story within 24 hours. This book had so many feelers within its pages. I never knew when I was going to laugh, cry, or smile as I turned each fantastic page. I was so enchanted by this story and I could literally feel every single feeling that was happening with the character, Echo, and I could feel her emotions seep out of the pages, the more I read. Echo was such as amazing character and had absolutely no clue what was going on around her. Thorn was also an incredible character and so very complex. I loved how the author would keep me in suspense and in the dark until the moment was right to allow me to know what the character knew and kept me guessing from beginning to end. So many secrets and so many awesome twists and turns within the pages of this book made it such a remarkable read. This is by far my favorite read that this author has brought forth yet. I am so ready to read more of Echo and Thorn and see where exactly this author will take me....GIVE ME MORE!!

Garden of Her Heart
Author: Shanna Hatfield
Genre: Romance
Editor: Eliza Dee from Clio Editing
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR

Can forbidden love blossom amid the constraints of war?

The moment the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, life shifted for Miko Nishimura. Desperate to reach the Portland Assembly Center for Japanese Americans, she’s kicked off the bus miles from town. Every tick of the clock pushes her closer to becoming a fugitive in the land of her birth. Exhausted, she stumbles to her grandparents’ abandoned farm only to find a dying soldier sprawled across the step. Unable to leave him, she forsakes all else to keep him alive.

After crashing his plane in the Battle of the Atlantic, the doctors condemn Captain Rock Laroux to die. Determined to meet his maker beneath a blue sky at his family home, he sneaks out of the hospital. Weary and half out of his mind, he makes it as far as a produce stand he remembers from his youth. Rather than surrender to death, Rock fights a battle of the heart as he falls in love with the beautiful Japanese woman who saves his life.

A poignant, sweet romance, Garden of Her Heart proves love can bloom in unlikely places even under the most challenging circumstances.

“I thought I heard you calling for me,” Miko said, climbing down a ladder on the far end of the building with an arm full of berry crates.
Rock rushed to help her. By the time he threaded his way through the packed contents of the building, she was already on the floor.
“That’s quite a car,” he said, taking half the berry crates from her and motioning to the convertible.
“Thanks. I bought it when I was still gainfully employed,” she said, walking over to the car. “I fell in love with the color the first time I saw it and started saving my money to buy one. When the weather’s nice, it’s fun to drive with the top down.”
Rock gaped at her. “It’s your car?”
Miko grinned. “Is that a hint of disbelief I hear, Captain? Not only is it my car, but I know how to change the tires, check the oil, and siphon gas out of my dad’s car when my brother, Tommy, borrows it and brings it back empty.”
He laughed, setting down the crates and wiping his hands along his trousers before touching the car. “It is a beaut. What’s this color?”
“Laguna maroon. Papa calls it the luna moon mobile, but I still think it’s one of the prettiest colors out there.” Miko opened the driver’s side door and motioned for Rock to climb in.
He sank into the leather seat and inhaled the aroma as if it was the most expensive perfume.
“Like it?” Miko asked, bending down to better see his reaction to the car.
“You bet!” He settled his hands on the steering wheel, forcing his injured fingers to curl around the wheel.
“If you like the outside of the car, you’ll probably be more impressed by the eight cylinders under the hood.” Miko released the hood latch and Rock slid out to study the engine.
He whistled and smirked at Miko. “What’s a girl like you doing with a car like this?”
“Anything I want,” she said with a sassy grin. “At least it used to be that way.”
Rock sobered and closed the hood, using the hem of his T-shirt to wipe away the smudges made by his fingerprints.
“I didn’t realize you had cars here. I was trying to figure out how to catch a ride on the bus into Portland.”
“By all means, drive one of the cars wherever you need to go.” She pointed to her grandparents’ sedan. “Papa and Mother must have sold their car or it would be here, too. Granddad wouldn’t care if you take his.” She cast a taunting look his way. “Or, if you think you can handle it, you’re welcome to drive mine.”
His raised an eyebrow at her dare as he lifted the berry baskets and followed her out the door. “Is that an invitation or a challenge?”
“Maybe both.” She turned and sauntered away, casting a flirty smile at him over her shoulder.
